TITLES ANALYSIS 1: THE COMPANIES
...

...
...

...
...

...
...

...
The title slides throughout the sequence are all based around racing, this is connoted in the car silhouette, the racing stripes and the red, white and black color scheme, this shows the audience without the movie haven even started what it will be about.

TITLES ANALYSIS 2: ROLES
...

...
...

...
...

...
In these titles there are 4 people shown, the writer, the 2 main protagonists and the director. Just like with the companies, all the title slides are themed around racing, with the F1 cars, wheels and red, white and black color scheme.

Planning and Planning Sheets:

- working as a group to share ideas.
- Call Sheet is a planner for costumes, shot types, script and it also makes it easier for each shot.
- organisation
- listing

Directing:

- retake multiple shots for the same content.
- use chalk or tape to let the actor know where to stand when taking multiple shots.
- give clear and precise instructions.
- control the set

Cinematography:

- use Manual Focus for specific shots.
- coverage (e.g. Extra footages

My 5 key tips for next time:

- experiment with Manual Focus
- communicate more with the actors
- have more cameras filming
- have a precise and clear Call Sheet
- go over everything together before shot

Semiotics Rap

We start with an E-long-shot,
can be known as the establishing shot,
an arsenal full of shots,
hell yeah, thats what i got,

Adjust the lens, get it into focus,
Put it on my face,
Come on dont provoke us

Give me a close-up,
Before i go and show you up,
put the camera on my face,
or i'll erase you from the place,

Put me in the right position,
Just here for a sick composition,
Move the camera,
create that transition,
maybe add some binary opposition...

GENRE/NARRATIVE CONNOTATIONS

The whole opening scene with the titles is the protagonist dancing .

Denote (describe in detail, illustrating with screenshots) the design of the titles: font (this is a serif font; this is a sans-serif font), colour, case (UPPER, lower, Sentence), size, positioning, any movement/animation, any additional graphical elements.

Discuss the probable preferred reading: what the filmmakers are trying to symbolically communicate to the audience. Do the titles/their design connote/signify the genre and/or anything about the narrative?

Titles:

The opening titles contain 4 companies, Sony, TriStar, MRC and Working title

Start and end time of titles: 000-053

Shots:
1. A high pitched ringing can be heard as a long shot (establishing shot) of a bank can be seen, the ringing represents the sound the protagonist (baby) can hear because of his tinnitus.

...

..

During this scene a Subaru WRX pulls up in front of the shot
...

...
The use of this car implies there may be some action sequences ahead as the car is renowned for being quite fast, the fact that it has also pulled up in front of a bank signifies it may be used as a get away car.

2. A extreme close up of a person can be seen pressing play on an old ipod to the song "Bellbotoms" from the Jon spencer blues explosion. This song becomes the sound track for the scene meaning the music is diegetic.

The camera cuts too a different person inside the car intime to the guitar from the song, the first person seen is implied to be the protagonist as they are driving, shown first and put on the music playing through the ipod.
...

...
Each person is framed using the rule of thirds, they are positioned on either side of the frame
...

...
Each shot is the same Close-Up of each character
...

...
Each cut is done on the beat
...

...
These cuts between the individuals as not only do they show who they are they also give a slight insight into there characters by the way they present themselves.

3. The next cut is of the people inside the car other then the driver exiting, this is once again done in time too the music, not only are they in time to the music all there actions are in time and without speaking, the doors are opened and closed synchronized and the trunk of the car is opened in time.
...

...
4. As they walk into the bank there are multiple different shot types:

Extreme Long Shot
...
...
Medium close up
...
...
Long Shot
...
...
Over the shoulder Shot
...
...
Shot through the car, both a medium close up and extreme long shot
...
...
5. After the others have entered the bank instead of focusing on them the camera stays on the car at a medium shot once again confirming the driver is the protagonist, he can be seen dancing to the song.
...

...

Additional Points:

On the door of the bank it says "First Bank of Atlanta," this gives the audience context too the setting
