Here is the video of the drone crashing and therefore why we could not use it to film our establishing shots. Whilst this was a set back we have been able to work around it as explained in the previous podcast.

Here is a rough-cut without sound effects of how the killing scene is going to play out. It is a base design and needs improvement. This needs to be refined and added to the newest rough cut which will be uploaded by tomorrow.

What went well:
- Planning made filming easy
- Clear directing
- Quite effectively edited together
What went wrong:
- Makeup got a bit all over the place
- Missing a few shots and cross cuts to break up sequence
- Need more sound effects and better editing
INFLUENCES for film opening
![]() |
| Opening of psycho |
Psycho was a huge influence on our film opening, not only did the opening sequence of panning shots influence our opening but the style of music and sound fx played a big part, for our sound FX, like Hitchcock we used watermelons being stabbed for the sounds of the slashing in the final scene

| Opening of psycho |
Black Christmas played a huge part in our closing to make "Christmas Sleigher" a Christmas themed slasher and that our killer would be Santa
Scream - Killer in house
Scream seemed an obvious choice for an influence to our opening, we used the, 'killer in the house' theme for our plot and decided that instead of using makeup and a fake beard for Santa it should be a mask like it is done in scream
Saw - Santa on TV "I want to play a game"

Research on Cherry Falls: C.S
Verdict
The film opening of Cherry falls is a couple who are being intimate and showing obvious sexual attraction between the two. The cuts are mostly close up and are short. The editing is fast paced with sinister music in the background which makes the audience hold their breathe. The couple have a small argument and the shot goes from inside the car to the outside from a stalkers POV. There is non- diegetic sound in the background to create the verisimilitude. This is created using crickets and wind. There is another car that pulls up and the male gets out of the car to play the role of the strong hero, while the girl stays and watis for him to return. The actress holds her fright and sadness throughout the film opening and never 'recovers'.To sum it up
- Fast paced editing.
- Large variety of different shots.
- Use of close ups (with hand placement, to show more emotion).
- The characters are frightened throughout.
- Use of diegetic and non - diegetic sound to create verisimlitude.
How will we apply this to our film opening?
- We will use a variety of shots and shorten our takes from our previous rough cut.
- There wil be close ups of hand placements to signify more emotion.
- To create verisimilitude the actor/actress will need to seem firghtend even after the scar.
- Have fast paced editing to keep the audience engaged.

Scenes to Reshoot
1. Establishing shots with drone
2. False scare
3. Add shot variety with false scare to show fear
4. Tiffany needs to stay scared for longer, use angles to show this
5. Whenever there is a SFX used to show fear adjust camera
6. Shot variety of going down stairs
7. arguing about going to garage
Overall:
- failure to reflect some key general + genre conventions
- some audio issues- editing pace and length of takes generally- taking out some shots that don't really add much- general lack of cross-cutting as a tension-building device- lack of shot variety in several sequences (especially 'cutaway' shots)
